We are expanding our operations and opening our new Centre located at 481 William Ave in Winnipeg. We are looking for 2-3 physicians to join our team as an Associate, under a competitive overhead model (25%), to provide family medicine services for the local community.

About The Opportunity:

Our Centres revolve around evidence-based and evidence-informed practices. We have designed cannabinoid therapy treatment protocols based on pre-clinical, clinical, and patient perspectives to help individuals find their strength within and take control of their own personal health. We believe in deprescribing and harm reduction principles; our focus is to help improve the quality of life of patients while simultaneously addressing polypharmacy and potential harms from substance misuse/abuse.

We concentrate on education, data and science, and are committed to helping you provide the best possible care for your patients. Utilizing a streamlined secure paperless intake system tied into our EMR, our infrastructure revolves around efficiency to support our physicians and provide a high-quality patient experience. We provide full support for our EMR, personalized care plans, patient education, billing support, and have a strong leadership & administrative team.

In addition to family medicine practice, the Physician Associate will have the opportunity to participate in research, and to be an integral part of the Circle of Care novel health care delivery model we provide for our patient community: Family Medicine, Addictions and Harm Reduction & Cannabinoid and plant therapy practices, and Social Services provisioning are incorporated in our Centres; Pharmacy services and health care educational institutions are located nearby.

Requirements:

Role Essentials

Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba; and

Must be a member in good standing with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.

Role Desirables

Certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada;

CAMH-Opioid Use Disorder Treatment course OR provincially regulated course work in progress or completed; and

Faculty Status at an accredited school of medicine.

Duties:

Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical and/or health care practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health;

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments;

Provide acute care management as it relates to illnesses seen in clinic;

Vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases;

Advise patients and their families on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention;

Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues;

Perform patient advocacy role;

Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care; and

Provide continuous care to patients.
